Craxy Feta

There are times in my life when I wonder what rock I’ve been hiding under.

Like the time I discovered avocados are a gift from above.

Or the time GamerMan cooked my steak to medium and I wanted to impress him so I ate it anyways and I didn’t die!


Well today was one of those days. Today I ate feta and it was FREAKIN’ AMAZING. image I’ve eatten feta before, but it was in some premade salad and it didn’t rock my world. But this dip is made with brick feta, freshly crumbled and combined with some totally nomworthy add-ins.


I’m not gonna lie, it takes a bit of work to make this stuff… Waiting for stuff to roast, then cool, then chop, then mix? Snoozeville. But when you take that first bite ZOMG!!!

Spicy Zucchini Penne

We’ve been MIA for reasons we can’t disclose yet (give us a week!), but rest assured your gamer peeps have not been sitting around doing nothing.

Along with “the reason we can’t talk about yet” comes a requirement. More veggies.

I’d like to be clear on this one that I am not the one who instated this requirement (you have GamerMan to thank for that one). But these days compromise is the name of the game, so just go with it.

Don’t lose faith in me. It’s not like I’m going to jump on this veggie bandwagon and feed you brussel sprouts and endive + raddish sammiches. <– ew… No, no I’m a tester (by trade and by nature) so I’m going to ease us in. It’ll be so painless you won’t even know you’re eating them!

Take zucchini, for instance. Super bland. Almost tasteless when mixed with the correct quantities of other nomworthy flavors. Which is why it’s been adopted as our first recipe in this new veggilicious chapter.

Spicy Zucchini Penne (FTY Original):

1 tbsp olive oil
2 small zucchini, sliced into matchsticks
.5 lb lean ground turkey
1 shallot, minced
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1.25c italian seasoned tomato sauce
1.5c dry penne
2c low sodium chicken broth
salt + pepper to taste

Break out your favorite skillet (no smaller than a 10″) and heat your olive oil until shimmering. Toss in the ground turkey. Season with a dash of salt and pepper, and brown that tasty bird meat.

Meanwhile, cook your penne as directed on the box/bag replacing 2c water with chicken broth. Trust me, it takes pasta to a whole new level.

Back over in your skillet, once your turkey is nicely browned, add the zucchini matchsticks, minced shallot, and pepper flakes. Stir for a bit to ensure even distribution, reduce to medium heat, and cover for 5 minutes.

Remove cover and stir in tomato sauce. Replace cover, reduce to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.

Once your pasta is done, reserve 1/2c pasta water and drain the rest. Add penne to your skillet, stirring to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add in enough pasta water to loosen the sauce from the add-ins and replace cover. Let sit for 5 minutes. Plate and serve to your hungry gamer who will be so impressed with you he’ll let you watch him play Dirt 3 (what… he knows I can’t drive!).
